A need to be relevant
In this super fast-paced world, we're all on the lookout for ways to get us from A to Z fast, without needing to go through B, C, D, E, and on and on. Shortcuts? Tips? Techniques? We call them talent hacks. It's all about finding ways to apply yourself and hack your talent, in order to push forward.
We don't have the luxury of time to always have to start from scratch when trying to apply our talent.
Here's an example: If I don't have the time to build a PowerPoint/Keynote presentation from scratch, then I will find a template I like and tweak it. Well, this is a hack, right?
Same result at the end of the day? Maybe. Different means to get there? Definitely. One eats up my time and the other protects it.
The question you need to ask yourself revolves around the job you want to get done.
Do you want to learn everything there is to building presentations on PowerPoint/Keynote and eventually become the "Slides Master"? If this is the case, then of course you need to build your presentation from scratch and study what you have to, to become proficient in the software you're using.
Or is it that you just want to get your job done (create a presentation for a meeting asap) and learn what you need to learn in the process? If this is the case, then you need to hack it.
You see, there is no right or wrong in hacking your talent. It all depends on your objective and the nature of the task you want to accomplish.
In our need to constantly evolve ourselves, develop and stay relevant with this world, we don't have time to spare on massive self-exploration journeys to attempt to change our behavior.
Talent hacking applies the principle of positive life-hacking to professional development. Quick and practical shortcuts to get professionals to hack their talent and grow. No need to inundate yourself with forgettable theories, excruciating models and acronyms, and generic ambiguous advice. No need to always build things from scratch. We give professionals crystal-clear development hacks that get them the results they need. Fast! Talent hacking applies to behavioral development, productivity, performance, anything and everything!
And over time, if you hack your talent enough, a particular hack you employ, if proven useful and constructive for you, can become habit. And that's why a HACK is a Habit Anyone Can Keep.
